Gwen, born and raised in Greater Vancouver, earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Simon Fraser University (luckily, never getting stuck overnight on campus because of snow), a Master of Professional Accounting from University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon is beautiful in the Summer, although I grew up preparing for earthquakes, not tornadoes), and her Chartered Professional Accountant designation (three-day exam, need I say more). During her years as an articling student, she was introduced to US and cross border tax, and went on to earn her US Certified Public Accounting designation (a four-hour exam, for which I studied on a cruise vacation).
Gwen has specialized in cross-border tax for many years, first with global firm KPMG (in Canada and Australia), then at a Vancouver-based mid-size firm, and most recently, at MNP, Canada’s largest national accounting firm.
When not in the office, Gwen can probably be found at a community centre, where her alter ego leads group fitness classes. She is certified to teach and loves participating in dance-style fitness classes, but her accounting mind is more suited to cardio and strength programs where she can count the reps and steps. You may also see (or hear) her out and about with a puppy, who is training to be an assistance dog. Gwen can't keep a plant alive, but the puppy always reminds her when it is time for food or a stretch.
